Ms. Walters’ class raising funds for Haiti: Second graders in Ms. Walters’ class really want to help the country of Haiti. According to the Red Cross the most needed assistance for Haiti now is financial support. The children came up with a great and simple idea – sell useful items to raise money for Haiti. Please come support Haiti.
The big sales will take place on Friday, January 29th, in the following time:

Grange Kitchen and Bar Fundraiser for Burns Park, Tuesdays in February. Grange Kitchen and Bar’s commitment to sourcing local products continues with our connection to the local community. As a local business supported by our community we would like to return the favor, during the month of February dine at Grange Kitchen and Bar every Tuesday and 10% of total sales for the day will be donated to the Burns Park PTO. We look forward to growing our relationship with the greater Ann Arbor community. 118 W. Liberty St.; For reservations call 995-2107; www.grangekitchenandbar.com. Ice Cream Social Volunteer wine and cheese: The Ice Cream Social committee is very excited to announce that this year we will be having our annual Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, 5/26/2010 (5/27/2010 rain date). The night will start at 5:30pm on the Burns Park lawn. Jazz, food, games, friendship and more will be waiting for you. The Ice Cream Social is one of the biggest fund-raisers for the school but we can’t do it without your help. So please join the Ice Cream Social team and come to the wine & cheese night at Devra Kellen’s house on 2/15/2010 at 8pm (2365 Adare Road). If you would like to help out but cannot come to the wine & cheese night, you can still sign up to help. Please sign up on our volunteer website: www.mysignup.com/BurnsParkIceCreamSocial. Or contact one of the two Co-Chairs. Thank you! The Ice Cream Social won’t be possible without you! Co-chairs: Devra Kellen (dkellen at umich dot edu, 994-4465) and Pei Huang (peibg at yahoo dot com, 995-9696)
The Special Interest Fair is coming Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Mark your calendars! For those of you not familiar with the fair, it is similar to a science fair, but almost anything goes. The purpose of the fair is to encourage students to pursue a topic of their interest and provide a showcase for their efforts (examples of last years’ projects include “The Mysterious Stonehenge,” “Spices from the Middle East,” “Big Cats,” and “My Favorite Quarterback: Tom Brady”). All students from kindergarten through 5th grade are encouraged to submit a project! The fair is noncompetitive and children may work alone or in a group. Watch for details after winter break. We look forward to all of the great projects! Questions? Contact fair co-chairs Carole Durgy (carole at durgy dot com) or Jenny Jalet (sutton at umich dot edu)
